About the event
In Enemy Alien - Walter’s Journey Through Adversity, writer Csilla Toldy tells the story of how the seven-year-old came to Northern Ireland in 1947 with his family who were Holocaust survivors from Austria.
Walter’s parents Edith and Kurt Sekules were born in Vienna and Walter was born in Tallinn, Estonia where they were already refugees, because after the invasion of Austria by the German Army they had to escape from Vienna. The family had lived many years in Soviet detention camps in Kazakhstan. After the war, they decided to join their family who had emigrated to London and Northern Ireland.
